As a general rule with background checks, Bloomfield School District wants to see a clear criminal background check free of any convictions for the last five years. This five year clear guideline can be lessened or lengthened by the severity and frequency of the conviction(s) and response of the individual. Individuals have a duty to self report any convictions that occur after the criminal background check is conducted.

By completing the appropriate background check below, it is understood that consideration for volunteering or employment at BSD is conditional upon an appropriately clear background check  relative to the position for which you are applying. 

Level 1 - Volunteer Background Check

• Required for school visitors (i.e. lunch), volunteers and parents/guardians attending field trips.

• This report will be done in conjunction with the National Sex Offender Registry and there is no cost.

• Volunteers will be notified of any negative report, which would limit their participation.

• All overnight field trip chaperones are required to complete a Level 2 Volunteer Background Check (see below).

• Any negative reports will be reviewed by administration.

Level 2 - Volunteer Background Check

Effective July 24, 2019 the standard cost for completing the Level 2 Volunteer Background Check Application is $29.90. The final price may vary based on address history and license verification. The CHC usually takes 2-3 business days to clear, but may take up to two weeks. 

• Required for volunteer coaches and overnight field trip chaperones.  

• This report includes an expanded criminal history check and check with the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS).

• Volunteers will be notified of any negative report, which would limit their participation.

• Any negative reports will be reviewed by administration.

Certified Employment Background Check

Effective July 24, 2019 the standard cost for completing the Certified Employment  Background Check Application is $47.60. The final price may vary based on address history and license verification. The CHC usually takes 2-3 business days to clear, but may take up to two weeks. 

• Required for certified employees, including teachers and administrators.  

• This report includes an expanded criminal history check and check with the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS), as well as license verification.

Non Certified Employment Background Check

Effective July 24, 2019 the standard cost for completing the Non Certified Employment  Background Check Application is $43.65. The final price may vary based on address history and license verification. The CHC usually takes 2-3 business days to clear, but may take up to two weeks. 

• Required for non-certified employees, including substitute teachers, custodians, instructional assistants, cafeteria assistants, coaches, ECA sponsors, etc.  

• This report includes an expanded criminal history check and check with the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS).
